Sterling Alexander Martin Wood was a lawyer, legislator and Brigadier General in the Confederate Army. Under the command of Albert Sidney Johnston, he was active in repressing pro-Union elements in East Tennessee. He was appointed a Brigadier General in 1862 Jan. and was on the field at Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro and Chickamauga.
